Domestic violence is not
tolerated in Ontario:
Threatening, pushing, hitting,
kicking, punching, stalking and
harassment are crimes – being
married does not allow any of this.

Psychological or emotional abuse should not be tolerated but they
are not considered crimes under the Criminal Code of Canada
If you or your child(ren) are experiencing domestic violence there is
help available – if you are being physically or sexually assaulted call
the police.
Emergency Court Appearances may be necessary to secure you
and your family’s safety and this falls under Family Law jurisdiction.
Talk to a lawyer about what you can do to protect yourself and your
child(ren).
